New book.

I'm proud to announce the arrival of my new book. (click on the image to scroll through sample)

With a special selection of my favourite images taken over the past 12 months, since the beginning of my film adventure. The front cover, an image I shot whilst on the road, with my mates Tony and Nick in search of snow. We didn't find much snow, but I managed a few wonderful snaps of the countryside. Other photos from Brisbane, Sunshine Coast. Scenic / iconic places such as the Story Bridge, Glasshouse Mountains.

I am inspired by design, travel, culture and hope to do a lot of it in the next couple of years.  Captured either on colour or black & white film. My favourites being Kodak Ektar 125, a well-balanced colour film. Perfect speed for full sun daytime photos. Producing natural colour. And Tri-x 400, a very grainy black & white film. Good for lower light scenes and full sun. For a little less grain, try an Ilford 125 or Fuji Acros 100.

There's just something about printed material that makes a little crazy. Something a little more personal, tangible.

I hope to share with you more printed material very soon...

GOMA, Brisbane "Cai Guo-Qiang: Falling Back to Earth"

Recently I visited the Gallery Of Modern Art, Brisbane (1 of about 3 or so times). I took a few photos on black & white Kodak Tri-x, 400 speed.

I love how natural light and film go so well together. The dynamic range is also quite remarkable, compared too digital. Such a well balanced (lit) image.

Read a bit about the history of the installation here and here.

I love architecture and art. I grew up drawing, cars, architecture (houses), cartoony thingys. Through school, I studied art, graphics, multimedia. After some time, I learnt photoshop and soon after that took up a camera. Disposable film at first, then digital, then back to film. And with film I'll stay (for now. Probably).

I love black & white and I also love full colour (almost as much). I might be slightly obsessed with light. Fascinated how it works, bends, reflects, refracts off different surfaces, how it sets the scene (for a great photo, of course).

Check the gallery (GoMA) out sometime.

Print on stone, coming soon...

I'm a bit excited to see my 2nd OnStone print. It will be 1 image (from 3, I think) spread across 2 panels. Printed on stone, framed using recycled timber. All done in Melbourne, VIC.

My first being one I gave to my girlfriend for Christmas. A beautiful photograph of some blossoms from Mt Cootha.

Let's just say I love the style, the raw materials used. It makes me happy when I can use Australian businesses. Although I don't mind US, either.
